West Texas Water & Power

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about the project and about investing.

What is Pecos SS?

Pecos SS is a proposed water supply project in Pecos County, Texas. It combines a permit to produce and export 10,000 acre-feet of water a year, six wells, and a pipeline of about 57 miles to carry the water to customers.

How much water is 10,000 acre-feet a year?

About 8.9 million gallons a day, or 6,202 gallons a minute.

Who would buy the water?

The project proposal names Ector County Utility District, Midland County Utility District, the City of Crane, the City of McCamey, the Quail Run Power Plant, the Odessa Ector Power Plant, and, in the future, the City of Odessa as interested. Interest is not a contract, and no customer has committed to buy water through this website.

Is the pipeline built?

No. The project is at the planning stage. Pipe size, pump stations, and crossings will be set by engineers and survey.

Do my water bills become an investment?

No. Residents pay their city or utility, and those cities and utilities buy water from suppliers. We do not currently have a program that turns a utility bill into an investment.

Can I invest?

You can express interest through the investor form. The minimum investment is $20,000, subject to the offering documents and to investor eligibility. Nothing on this website is an offer to sell or a request to buy securities.

Why do you ask whether I am an accredited investor?

Some private offerings can only be made to accredited investors. Generally, that means an individual with income above $200,000 a year ($300,000 with a spouse) or net worth above $1 million, not counting a primary home, though other qualifications exist. Ask your own attorney or advisor whether you qualify.

Are the revenue figures guaranteed?

No. The revenue figure on the investor page is a management estimate, and actual results may be lower. Investing involves risk, including loss of principal. See the investor disclosures.
